Imaging and Targeting Receptors: Two Decades of Progress
  February 08, 2003

Medical Research (others)

Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland USA
March 14-15, 2003

Since the first imaging of dopamine receptors in the human brain twenty years ago, there has been tremendous progress in establishing the role of receptor imaging in clinical medicine and research. This course will cover the many receptor systems of value in the care of patients, both for diagnosis and receptor targeted therapy. A review of basic principles of receptor imaging, useful protocols and receptor imaging in drug design and development will also be covered. This program will be of interest to nuclear medicine physicians and technologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, oncologists, cardiologists, radiologists and basic scientists.

  • Trace the development of receptor imaging during the last 20 years
  • Demonstrate how the use of receptor imaging enhances the care of patients with a wide variety of diseases including those with neurological, psychiatric, oncological, and cardiac disorders
  • Demonstrate the role of receptor targeted radionuclide therapies
  • Provide examples of the usefulness of receptor imaging in drug design and development
