The conference program is not yet finalized.

This year's conference will provide updates on evaluation and management issues covered in the preceding conferences, as well as updates on timing of surgery for common valve lesions.

New topic areas include:

* Age as factor in deciding whether to operate for valve diseases.
* Surgical intervention for sub- and-supravalvular aortic stenosis. When and why?
* Pacemaker therapy for mitral regurgitation: Is there a role?
* Is primary repair of the bicuspid aortic valve in adults viable?
* Apoptosis: Is it important in the genesis of heart failure in valvular diseases? Can it be identified on clinical testing?
* Pharmacologic heart rate slowing: Benefits in valvular heart diseases
* Calcific mitral stenosis of the elderly: Pathogenesis, prevalence, prevention and treatment
* ICD therapy after valve surgery: Does data support its use? What criteria to support its application?
* Catheter-based ablation for atrial fibrillation --technique, results to-date, comparison with Maze procedure, applicability in asymptomatic patients with valve diseases
