Come join us in Washington,D.C. for the 2001 International Conference on Immunology and Aging. The agenda will cover immunological mechanisms of age-associated diseases (including cancer, osteoporosis,neurodegenerative diseases, and anemia), vaccines (basic and clinical), biology of immune senescence, basic biology of aging, neuroendocrine immunology, and nutrition/exercise and immunity. The meeting will provide international researchers, clinicians, and public health specialists with an up-to-date view on the rapidly expanding knowledge of the immune system and its relationship to the aging process. There will be plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, poster sessions, and an awards dinner.

Three awards will be presented at the Leadership Awards Dinner. The first is the Douglas C. Powers Award for Excellence in Aging and Vaccine Research, which is given in recognition of scientists for their outstanding contributions to research in the fields of aging and immunology. In addition, Institute Leadership Awards will also be presented to two individuals who have shown dedication and leadership in public service and humanitarian work on issues relevant to older people. The Program Planning Committee will provide nominations for each of the three awards.
