May 5, 2001

CBC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7 hours in Category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.

NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Countless current and potential pulmonary patients are treated by nonpulmonologists each day. Because these patients' morbidity and mortality are dependent upon appropriate care, often in conjunction with pulmonologists and other specialists, it is essential that physicians be well versed in the diagnosis and management of a variety of pulmonary issues. This course aims to provide a comprehensive update for nonpulmonologist physicians who seek to enhance their skills in caring for pulmonary patients and identifying patients at risk for pulmonary complications.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, it is expected that the attendee will:
- Have improved clinical skill and knowledge of newer procedures on arriving at diagnosis and newer, accepted treatments.
- Describe and evaluate new techniques and therapies for optimal treatment and management of pulmonary disorders.
- Appropriately treat/manage asthma, pneumonia, COPD, and other pulmonary complications.
