PLANT PROTEIN CLUB, University of York, UK
21-23 March 2001

This event, the second in the series entitled Added Value Products from Plants, will look at the application of cell wall components in a wide range of areas including texture and processibility of plant based foods through to the production of paper and textiles.

The meeting will address all aspects of generating novel traits related to cell walls that could potentially add market value to plant products. There will be particular emphasis on lignin, pectin, cellulose, proteins and algal cell walls.

Within each area, topics covered will include genetic and metabolic engineering, structural biology, novel expression systems, processing and commercialisation.

The meeting will span 3 day and will take the form of a series of presentations covering

· Lignins
· Celluloses
· Proteins
· Pectins
· Algal Cell Walls

Papers are invited in the form of oral or poster presentations.
