CLINICAL INFORMATICS | ||||

Just as pharmaceutical research is undergoing a major shift with much greater emphasis on informatics, so too is the clinical evaluation phase of drug development. Speed is of the essence as a key means of reducing expenses, as well as reducing the time to market, and better informatic approaches can help achieve this goal. Clinical trial simulations can help improve clinical trial design and selection of proper patient numbers, while electronic availability of clinical protocols and capture of clinical data can enhance quality control, as well as the efficiency of data collection and analysis. Innovative strategies in this field will be explored, along with the problems of implementing such changes within a conservative medical and regulatory environment. |
