The 3rd Genetic Effects on Aging Meeting | ||||
The Jackson Laboratory
, Bar Harbor, Maine August 4 - 8, 2000 |
||||
This meeting is unique in its emphasis on genes that regulate basic mechanisms affecting rate of aging and life span, rather than on genes that control vulnerability to specific diseases. The focus will be on a comparative genomic approaches to identifying genes that increase life span in multiple biological organisms, and thus suggest basic mechanisms of aging. This meeting will convene investigators working on the genetic regulation of aging in organisms as diverse as yeast (Saccharomyces), worms (Caenorhabditis), flies (Drosophila), mice (Mus) and humans. This meeting provides a unique opportunity for established investigators from these different areas, and students interested in the biology of aging to interact and exchange ideas regarding the use of molecular genetics to identify loci that may further promote our understanding of the genetic basis of aging. |
