NATIONAL CME COURSE

Cancer Care in the Community:A Practical Approach

Boca Raton Marriott
Boca Raton, Florida
March 17-18, 2000

About the Course

The Centers for Disease Control and the National Cancer Institute continue to report declining death rates from cancer, particularly for breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancers as well as for leukemia. This decrease is due in part to improved understanding of how cancer works, allowing the design of better, more effective treatment strategies. A 1999 survey by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association reports that “354 new weapons are in development for the war on cancer.”

Because of the continuous advances in the field of oncology, it is imperative that practicing oncologists be aware of the latest treatment options in order to provide their patients with optimal care. This course is designed to provide a review of the current cancer treatment techniques, and to introduce attendees to the latest breakthroughs in cancer management.
