HUM-MOLGEN events
BIOINFORMATICS

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , San Francisco, California
June 19-20, 2000

A major bottleneck in drug discovery seems to be the tools to analyze and correlate data in genomics, not the generation of the sequence information itself. Computational advances are essential for comprehending the information being accrued and for developing models to understand biological information in a context that makes sense and enables the researcher to make predictions. With the prospect of genetic information being used as a predictive measure, it is important to create automated tools for the analysis and interpretation of data. Now that a substantial amount of gene expression data has been generated, there is a basis for establishing standards for validation. This meeting has been on the forefront of key developments in this area, and it attracts an international and focused audience in bioinformatics.
