There is an broad range of applications of phage display and other display methods, including ribosome, yeast, and bacterial surface display. These provide a controlled means of production of peptide and protein libraries that can be used to manufacture and refine molecules for therapeutic development. This includes antibodies, for which there is renewed interest due to the success of therapeutic antibodies currently in the clinic. Therapeutic peptides and proteins offer promise due to the availability of improved delivery methods. There is an increased demand in the use of phage display for the discovery and selection of novel antibiotics, identification of plant pathogens, as well as small molecules for drug development. |
