This symposium intends to foster discussion on a number of important subjects related to pathogen discovery such as the assessment of evidence which implicate infectious agents in certain candidate disease, the value of animal models, technologies used in the search for candidate pathogen sequences and their assessment, and approaches in linking a new pathogen to disease and the study of its pathogenesis.
