Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference 1998

Dr. Richard Gill: International Market Opportunities in the Plant, Animal and Microbial Sectors

Dr. Richard Gill is the Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the British Technology Group USA Inc. and is based in
Philadelphia, PA. Dr Gill's role is that of line manager for the biological technologies sector including pharmaceuticals, agribusiness
and food, biotechnology and processing with his responsibilities including the day-to-day management of BTG USA and
commercialization of technology by acquisition from and licensing to third party companies.
Dr. Gill received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Reading, UK with upper second honours in Physiology and
Biochemistry and his doctorate from the National Institute for Research in Dairying, Reading, UK. He has published numerous papers
on the subjects of endocrinology, feed and nutrition in dairy cows; silage; adding value to technology and technology transfer. Dr. Gill
is a member of several scientific bodies including The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association and the Biotechnology Industries
Organization where he acted as co-chair for the Host Committee of BIO'96.

Dr. Jeffrey D. Turner: Production of Pharmaceutical Compounds by Transgenic Animals

Dr. Jeffrey D. Turner founded Nexia Biotechnologies Inc. in September, 1993. Dr. Turner has since served as the company's
President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding Nexia Biotechnologies Inc., Dr. Turner was a tenured Associate Professor at
McGill University, Montreal from 1987 to 1994 where he maintained an active research program in dairy cattle molecular genetics.
Dr. Jeffrey Turner earned his Ph. D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1987. He earned M. Sc. degrees
from both the University of Illinois (1987) in Protein Chemistry and McMaster University (1982) in Acid-Base Physiology. Dr. Turner
earned his B. Sc. (Hon) in Biology from Mount Allison University in 1979.
Dr. Turner serves on several national committees including NSERC Strategic Grants program and the Expert Committee on Food
Biotechnology, as well as being an Ad Hoc Reviewer for organizations such as the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, NSERC
Cell Biology Committee and USDA Competitive Grant Program. He has published over 40 peer reviewed articles, 100 abstracts at
both national and international meetings and holds 5 international patents in dairy science. His technical expertise is in the areas of cell
biology and systems physiology with a specific interest in the development of ruminant mammary gland-based gene expression
systems.

Program:
Anticipation is building in the international agricultural biotechnology community about the return of ABIC. Booked for Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan, the centre of one-third of Canada's burgeoning biotechnology industry, ABIC '98 promises to build on the success of
the inaugural 1996 conference. The conference will take place at the Delta Bessborough Hotel. The ABIC '98 theme, "Agbiotech: the
Science of Success," will focus on Strategies for the Commercialization of Agbiotech Products.

ABIC '98 will feature tours of Saskatoon's agbiotech industry sites, 36 expert presentations by 40-plus speakers, poster presentations
and a trade show. Presentation topics include:

* international patterns and projections in agbiotech development;
* emerging market opportunities;
* hot technologies;
* strategies for building agbiotechnology businesses; and
* guidelines for entering the international marketplace.
