2nd Annual DNA FORENSICS: Science, Evidence, and Future Prospects

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , McLean, Virginia
November 17-18, 1997

Program:
The past several years have seen DNA evidence take on an increasingly high profile, particularly in
criminal investigations and trials. The goal of this program is to provide an integrated examination of
evidence available from DNA, and the prospects for further enhancements in technology, databases,
and procedures that may address issues of current controversy. Focused sessions on inherent
variability of human DNA, advances in technology for recovery, amplification, typing, and
comparison of DNA, application-specific developments and experts covering legal controversies will
provide the audience with a new level of understanding of this field. The conference is designed to
appeal to those with backgrounds in molecular genetics, genetic diagnostics and statistics, as well as
forensic practice, law enforcement, legal defense, and prosecution. Coverage of non-criminal
applications, such as paternity and animal breeding will also be included.
