2nd Annual GENE MUTATIONAL ANALYSIS: Advances in Detection, Diagnostics, Databases, and Clinical Applications

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , Hamilton, Bermuda
November 16-17, 1997

Program:
The number of diseases and disorders linked to gene mutations continues to grow rapidly. New
techniques for scanning and detection of known and unknown mutations are vital for providing the
epidemiological data and patient screening to further extend the understanding of these correlations.
Databases that provide researchers and clinicians with access to information on mutations and
phenotype expression are also critical. There will be discussions on the progress being made in each
of these areas, as well as the practical challenges with commercialization of mutation assays, and
experience with mutation testing for a variety of mutations. Applications to be covered include cystic
fibrosis and other single gene disorders, disease risk predictor mutations, as in cancer, and mutations
that may affect therapeutic selection and outcome.
