ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE Advancing Therapeutics Towards the Clinic

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , Washington, D.C.
June 16-17, 1997

Program:
The incidence of Alzheimer¹s Disease continues to rise with the aging of the population, and places
greater importance on the need for better understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease and
development of additional therapeutic options. Improved understanding of ApoE, presenilin and
other relevant genes, as well as connections between beta-amyloid, acetylcholine, oxygen radicals
and other factors contributing to disease progression, are providing the basis for additional
therapeutic strategies. Progress in the development and clinical evaluation of drugs designed to
improve memory, block neuron destructive activity or otherwise provide protection against neuron
loss, will all be covered.
