The explosion of genetic information resulting from the Genome Project has placed considerable
demands on the pharmaceutical and biotech industries to keep up with technology advancements and
their implementation. This conference will feature representatives from various research centers in
Europe, as well as several groups involved in the development of new technology in the United
States. The analysis of gene function and bioinformatics will be highlighted as to how it has enhanced
the understanding of genes. A discussion of new diagnostic techniques and infectious disease
therapeutics will follow.
