MOLECULAR EVOLUTION

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , Boston, Massachusetts
April 24-25, 1997

Program:
Co-sponsored by: Canji, Inc., Pharmacia Biotech, and PharmaGenics

A large number of biomedical applications involve the search for compounds with improved activity
or performance. The application of molecular evolution is proving to be extremely well suited for this
purpose, particular for identification of nucleic acids or peptides. Genetics makes it possible to
employ sequential rounds of screening and selection, followed by further mutation, to allow for the
generation of compounds adapted for a desired target or under specific conditions. Phage display
and other related techniques have been used extensively for this purpose. Examples of the
development of antibodies, mutated proteins, and a range of research, selection, and therapeutic
applications are covered in detail. Learn how leaders in this field are taking advantage of the power
of this technology and how you might benefit from making greater use of it by attending this timely
event.
