Invited Speakers: Kenote presentations from UNSCEAR, ICRP and IAEA
Program:
The objective of the Conference is to foster information exchange
on the biological and health effects of low doses of ionizing
radiation, and on the regulatory aspects of the control of these
doses, with the overall aim of promoting international consensus
as to the relevant issues in these areas.
In the area of biology and health, the following major topics
are to be covered:
- Molecular mechanisms of radiation effects: point mutations
and clastogenic mutations
- Adaptive responses: readiation enhanced repair and apoptosis.
- Promotion and progression of radiation induced malignancies.
- Radiation effects in germ cells: hereditary disorders.
- Radioepidemiological evidence: human populations;
extrapolation from animal experiments.
- Estimates of radiation risk and detriment.
Concerning regulatory aspects, the following major topics are
to be covered:
- The control of low doses added by practices.
- The reduction of existing low doses by intervention.
- The interaction between regulatory control and licencees
in the application of safety standards.
- The interaction between regulatory control and scientific
research.
Papers will not be presented orally, but a "Book of
Contributed Papers" will be given to all participants.
Posters are invited.
The working languages of the Conference will be English and
Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
There is no registration fee for participation
