The 1st National Conference on Smith-Magenis Syndrome will be held in Bethesda, Maryland on March 14-15, 1997 at the Holiday Inn, Bethesda. PRISMS, the parent support group for parents and researchers interested in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (del 17p11.2), is cosponsoring the conferenece with the Office of Rare Diseases and National uman Genome Research Institute at NIH and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Genetics Network. The goal of the two-day conference is to bring parents, researchers and professionals involved with the care of persons with SMS together to exchange information, ideas, scientific data, and share the family experience. The conference is intended to provide current information on the medical, social, developmental, and behavioral aspects of SMS. Attendees will hear from medical experts about current and future research efforts into the causes, management and treatment of SMS.
