ADVANCES IN NUCLEIC ACID AMPLIFICATION & DETECTION

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , Amsterdam, The Netherlands
September 18-September 19, 1996

Program:
Gene amplification continues to be a very fertile field for technical advances and an impressive range of applications. There is a growing recognition of the value for a number of applications of being able to quantify the number of copies of a given gene, not just detect its presence. Measuring of viral load is currently the most common use of this technique, but its value will be much more widespread. Other advances, including in situ and non-cycling methods for amplification and mutation detection will be covered. Among the applications that are featured will be infectious disease assays as well as human genotyping for cancer, transplantation, cystic fibrosis, and other diseases.
