Program:
The course will be a didactic presentation of practical and critical issues in general surgical pathology and its subspecialties. The lecturers are from the Division of Surgical Pathology of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, and each will discuss issues from his/her area of special interest. The course will focus on the critical and practical issues relevant to the general practice of surgical pathology. (Topics will vary from year to year.) Time will be reserved for questions and participation by the audience will be encouraged. A detailed corse syllabus with charts and references will be distributed.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this program the course registrants should be able to-
* Acquire the diagnostic approaches to surgical specimens of senior consultants.
* Select and interpret special procedures such as immunohistochemistry.
* Recognize new tumor entities.
* Recognize non-neoplastic lesions that masquerade as neoplasms.
* Improve their diagnostic skills in general surgical pathology and the subspecialty arenas of genito-urinary, lung, breast, hematopoietic, gastrointestinal, placental, soft tissue, head and neck, and skin pathology.
* Become familiar with newly described and controversial issues of diagnostic importance.
