Program:
This course is designed as a comprehensive update on pediatric allergy and immunology for the practicing physician. All lectures will be clinically oriented and extensive audience participation will be encouraged. Special emphasis will be placed on the diagnosis and management of common allergic and immunologic problems for the primary caretaker.
After completing this course, participants will be better skilled in the following areas-
* the diagnosis and management of asthma, including the new NIH and international consensus guidelines
* the diagnosis and treatment of allergic rhinitis, sinusitus, food allergy, latex allergy, atopic dermatitis, anaphylaxis and urticaria
* the role of immunotherapy in treating asthma and allergic rhinitis
* allergy testing, particularly with regard to new tests available for office practice
* indoor allergens and environmental control
* controversies and advances in the use of intravenous immunoglobulin
* the diagnosis and presentation of common immunodeficiency diseases
