Program:
This course is designed to provide practical approaches to the
care of patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease for
all groups of healthcare professionals. The introductory
lecture reviews state-of-the-art knowledge on the goals of
the treatment of dementia.

Breakout sessions are provided along two tracks... on for
physicians and one for allied health care professionals.
In the former, designed for the busy clinician-practitioner,
the mechanics involved in the differential diagnosis and
work-up of dementia, the specifics of treating non-cognitive
complications, such as depression and problem behaviors,
and the care of dementia outpatients and nursing home patients
are discussed in detail. In the allied health professional
track, neuropsychological evaluation, case management,
problem behaviors and the use of activities and adaptive
equipment are reviewed.

Physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers,
administrators, and other professionals who care for dementia
patients in any setting will benefit from this course.
