ENGINEERED ANIMAL MODELS

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , Baltimore, MD USA
May 7 - May 8, 1996

Program:
As the cost of drug discovery, development, and evaluation continues to increase, there is increasing emphasis on the value of improved animal models for each of these stages. The application of specific technical strategies, especially gene insertion, cell transfer, and gene knockouts, can provide models with significant benefits in understanding gene activity, disease pathology, and identification or evaluation of new therapeutic targets. As a basic tool in the genomics effort, the knockout mouse will be the common denominator in large-scale efforts to determine gene function in vivo. Plan now to register and attend this valuable event.
