The first annual meeting of the Molecular Medicine Society will be held on May 3, 1996 in Washington, DC, USA. The MMS will participate in "Biomedicine '96" with the three major clinical research societies of the United States - the American Federation for Clinical Research, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and the Association of American Physicians. In addition, Science magazine will be co-hosting all four meetings.

While the MMS meeting will be held on the first day, it will be a part of the complete conference which will run through May 6th. The Society will be able to participate in the low registration fee, discounted hotel prices, special events, and major exhibits.

MMS will provide full plenary sessions inclusive of all of molecular medicine, and all abstracts will be included in the poster session. Each plenary session will also feature an address by a major scientist.

The schedule is as follows:

1:00 - 2:30 pm
- Sponsored lunch for the first 100 members and fellows to sign up. Featured will be the presentation of the Maclyn McCarty Award for the best paper by a young investigator in volume 1 of Molecular Medicine, and an address by Floyd E. Bloom, MD, of the Scripps Research Institute, Editor of Science and Councillor of MMS.

2:30 - 3:30 pm - Presentation (15 minutes) by Sir David Weatherall, Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford and Vice President of MMS for Europe, and three 12 minute papers with 3 minute discussions.

3:30 - 4:00 pm - Break with refreshments.

4:00 - 5:00 pm - Presentation by Richard A. Young, PhD, of the Whitehead Institute and Charter Fellow of MMS, followed by three papers, as above.

5:00 - 6:00 pm - Address (10 minutes) by President David G. Nathan, Physician-in-Chief of Harvards Childrens Hospital, followed by the annual business meeting.

7:00 - 9:00 pm - Poster session of all MMS abstracts, and those of the three clinical research societies.
