Strategies for Identification of NOVEL TARGETS for Drug Discovery

Cambridge Healthtech Institute , San Diego, CA, USA
January 8-9, 1996

Program:
Almost all modern drug discovery efforts, whether based on screening, structure-based design or other approaches, depend on the selection of biomolecular targets. The development of breakthrough drugs is even more dependent on finding novel targets. Receptors, enzymes, genes and other biomolecules, both from humans and from infectious organisms, can be appropriate targets once unique functionality has been recognized. A number of strategies for identifying such targets, including genome-based approaches, will be explored.
