Program:
Initial gene therapy trials have shown that it is possible to successfully express genes delivered for therapeutic purposes, but if this technology is to live up to its tremendous potential, there will need to be significant technical advances on several fronts. Retroviral vectors will generally need to be replaced by newer vectors, and techniques offering the potential for greater ability to target gene delivery and controlled gene expression are important. A session focusing on the technique of genetic immunization will also be included.
