Introduction

To improve sugar and amino acid peptide metabolic utilization in ruminant digestion and energy / protein output of biomass from the specialized rumen stomach of dairy cows: lowering ligneous components in feedstock, boosting fructan content, decreasing proteases in crops and other means of improving pre-formed amino acid and peptide performance with rumen microbial metabolism such as boosting synthesis of limiting essential amino acids if microbial metabolism or dealing in storage proteins that are high in limiting essential amino acids and are relatively resistant to degradation in the rumen, to increase milk output in dairy cows by studying the underlying molecular mechanisms in microbes and plant material, we believe, is nearing a breakthrough now after a number of decades study.

We are currently investigating possible uses of yeast (fungi) which subsistent as rumen probiotics for essential amino acids metabolism in microbes and their growth and surrogate proteins high in limiting essential amino acids to rebalance amino acids profiles reaching the duodenum of cows. We are also investigating use of fungal species and their increased capacity for fibre digestion via lignases (e. g. esterases, etherases, cellobiase).

Cytobiology with DNA precision engineering and IVF can be used to introduce O/P regions in cassettes coding for the synthesis and secretion of milk food proteins, casein and lactoferrin, two proteins that have been studied to have an effect in protecting against certain cancers and which should be introduced in cow's milk in semi-industrial country markets (e. g. India, Russia and China) where life-style calls would indicate these medicinal properties as a strong selling point similar to "golden" rice with beta-carotene by Monsanto.

Flores) embarked on a survey on the topic of "GMO dairy research capacity" which was conceived to be initiated in the U.S. with eventual development for the Indian sub-continent. As understood other collaborators on the horizon as one outlined here: the Canadian-Aussie-China consortium spanning Montreal (Qc) - Greater Vancouver Regional District (BC) - Sydney (AU) - Melbourne (AU) - Xiamen (China), are potential research and marketing areas. To grapple with the new GMO dairy milk food protein life product craze that is predicted similar to Bt corn's arrival from Monsanto will be Dow AgroScience's predicted move into the area together with the need for research capacity for: milk marketing board economics and its regulation, milk solids separation and product development, seagrassponics (which SkyeBlue is actively monitoring developments in for non-GMO/GMO fodders), and animal research: animal cloning, milk products, TFs and nuclear receptors for efficiency in animal production, genomics in dairy animals, recording of milk trait parameters (viz. of milk proteins), reproductive physiology, and dairy cattle nutrition with carbohydrate and protein metabolism. For those wishing to make Ph.D. proposals in the area of dairy cattle research capacity using biotechnology in Canada there are two researchers at McGill U. who may serve as potential contacts in future: Dr./Prof. David Zadworny: molecular cloning & expression of bovine genes with reproductive and production traits and Chair, Dr./Prof. Xin Zhao: cattle biochemistry & physiology both currently of Macdonald college of McGill U.
