INITIATIVES IN GENOME PRECISION EDITING:
GENEditing (GE)- genome precision editing, is the ability to introduce with genetic engineered means and endogenous enzymes the ability to introduce genetic variation including replacing in novel genes, variant (=mutated) genes or deleting genes altogether.
Because the resulting gene products or GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are just mutated forms (except for those as transplanted gene types) of the parental or wild type they are considered non-regulatory (at least by the USDA in the USA) and thus has blown wide open the market for such GMOs.
GELOGEX is investigating genomics initiatives into genes of the endosperm of the kernel grains and or seeds (nuts) of rice and coconut to find ways of introducing preventative health nutritionals (PHNs) in food grains like rice and surrogate proteins to nutrify further feed meal byproduct sources like coconut copra meal low in essential amino acids including applications for dairy production.
We are generating new ideas in GMO development such as the important market product of coprameal from coconut industry byproduct processing in the Philippines and Mexico (as probable markets) for growing supplemented methionine (MET) (as one e. g.- lysine and threonine are other examples) copra meal as a protein meal supplement or concentrate in livestock feeding in the tropics. RPMet (rumen protected methionine) has been fed or administered to rebalance the essential amino acid profile in supplemented livestock. This supplement will likely be used for dairy feeding (see: Life Producers Group). One approach to doing this supplementation is to use genes that code for the nutritious synthetic viable protein MB-1 in E. coli (see: R. M. Teather et al. 2002) or another e. g. is use of the gene for the pea legumin or albumin 1 (PA1). The genes would be introduced by precision editing in operator/promoter (O/P) regions for endosperm cell proteins such as the albumins and globulins which predominate.
A recent food product that has come under the purveyance of genetic editing technologies is yellow-golden rice which is derived from the spice saffron plant's non-volatile a-crocin carotenoid compound giving its pistils the characteristic yellow golden color; it contains other carotenoids, including zea-xanthin, lycopene and the more common a- and ß-carotenes. These are important antioxidants that help protect the human body from oxidant-induced stress, cancers, infections and acts as immune modulators, important in future markets in developing middle class markets in those countries (e. g. Brazil, India, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern countries). The genes for the PHNs or essential oils spoken of here are to be introduced by precision editing in O/P regions for endosperm cell proteins as was previously referred to in grade fashion in proportion to their flavour principles as they occur in saffron spice as used, for e. g.: fancy grade (strongly expressed); med. grade (moderately expressed) and regular grade (normally expressed).
We are also investigating the anti-inflammatory agents in the fruit and leaves of the guayabano fruit tree plant and its active substance Annonaceous acetogenin and introducing it into juices from fruit (berries- e. g. cranberries, citrus- e. g. oranges) . Its medicinal properties should prove to be a major selling point for yellow-golden rice with health-conferring benefits in similar middle-class markets with inflammatory-related diseases and may even be implicated as an immune modulator with diabetesT2, cancers and heart disease. The active ingredient Annonaceous acetogenin is another example of a PHN naturally ocurring in guayabano fruit and leaves plants we are interested in developing due to strong evidence of its link to cancer.
GELOGEX TECHNOLOGY MEAT PRODUCTS ®– A Future in Heart Health Dietetic Deli-Meat Products. We aim to GEdit flax seed omega-3 oilseed operons to boost transcript expression using GELOGICX DT Electrophoreses Technology to define enzyme (lipase) technology. The sourced oils will be distilled after the enzyme process. The meat emulsions will be made of agar-agar, fabricated meat proteins as emulsifying agents to stabilize fat particles, also in turn of fabricated ‘oleo’ omega-3-predominating oils from flax seed oilseed fats or oils, collagenous salt-soluble protein to emulsify fat and added milk protein – casein to form a stable meat emulsion and incorporated as particulates in the matrix or external phase. Artificial fabricated casings will be used to form and stabilize the deli-meat sausage after heating and extrusion.
SKYENEWS: Proposal to develop varieties of horticultural crops (viz. citrus, berries) with AFRD- NewCastle University, the U.K. with our PHNs (viz. our anti-inflammatory and possibly immunomodulatory PHN, Annonaceous acetogenin from Philippine guyabano fruit) with rural development in countries with co-op orchards farming operations like Cuba and Brazil and processing overseas in the U.K. and Switzerland poses a value, for e. g., in the billions of USD$ in the futures orange juice world market. Expansion to C. Asia is also predicted.
SKYENEWS: There have been new developments with negotiating our "dye-detergent" electrophoretic reagent for separating out and annotating gene products. There is now availability of lab resources available for use in this type of research that has come to our attention. In reference to preparing the gels for analyses with our protocol(s), we present two options here for our in-solution dyed saturated detergent: 1) clear gels scanned- gels are computer scanned with laser using a computerized comparator scanner with clear sample against the dyed sample, analyzed by reverse phase HPLC upon cutting and elution, digested with trypsin and then analyzed by ESI-MS (mass spec) I.D. and sequencing or 2) conventional dyed gels- dyed gels are stripped of dye-detergent from sample in a DEAE-sephadex prep mini-column and then analyzed by reverse phase HPLC, digested with trypsin, and then analyzed by ESI-MS (mass spec).
SKYENEWS: New developments in Gelogicx technology is to set up lipid stores management systems from waste cooking or vegetable oil (WCO / WVO) or yellow grease that's been refined from food waste and mixed with a "gel" matrix using animal casings. While dietetic versions, an exciting prospect, exist from e. g. flaxseed oil processed to an oleo product which we call L'Oleo. There are several plants in the Vancouver area sporting this eco-green label who recycle fat in the industry. The fat store is then mechanically made by local meat manufacturing concerns, e. g. in the Richmond - Port Coquitlam corridor. Skye Blue is approaching EcoZero and Arctic Meats as potential prospects as leaders in their field in the locale.
