NEED ADVICE REGARDING BETAINE THERAPY

Dear Colleague

A 20-year-old patient of ours with 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase deficiency is having a very difficult time trying to eat the 6 grams of betaine each day needing to keep her plasma L-homocysteine concentration low.

She has tried mixing it with a variety of solids and liquids, but now gags immediately when she tries to swallow it.

We would be grateful for any suggestions.
